Malaysia to Singapore Air Freight

Malaysia to Singapore Air Freight Service

Newfly provides air freight and cross-border parcel delivery services from Malaysia to Singapore for personal parcels, e-commerce shipments and commercial cargo.

Our Malaysia to Singapore air freight service is designed for customers who require faster delivery compared with conventional cross-border trucking or sea freight arrangements.

Estimated Transit Time: 1–3 Working Days

Transit time is calculated based on normal operating conditions after the shipment has been collected, processed and handed over for transportation.

Delivery time may be affected by customs clearance, incomplete documentation, restricted goods, peak seasons, public holidays, flight arrangements or other circumstances outside the carrier's control.

Suitable Shipments

This service is suitable for:

Personal parcels

E-commerce orders

Commercial products

Business samples

Documents

Clothing and fashion products

Electronic accessories

Replacement parts

Small machinery parts

Online seller shipments

Regular business shipments from Malaysia to Singapore

Certain sensitive or controlled goods may require additional documentation or may not be accepted.

Shipping Charges

Freight charges are normally calculated according to the higher of:

Actual Weight

or

Volumetric Weight

Volumetric weight is calculated as:

Length × Width × Height ÷ 5000

Measurements are calculated in centimetres.

Example:

Parcel size:

50cm × 40cm × 30cm

Volumetric weight:

50 × 40 × 30 ÷ 5000
= 12kg

If the parcel weighs only 8kg physically, the chargeable weight will normally be 12kg.

Final chargeable weight and dimensions are subject to the carrier or warehouse measurement.

Maximum Parcel Size

For our standard Malaysia to Singapore air freight service:

Maximum single-side length: 120cm

Oversized shipments may require special handling or a separate quotation.

Customers should inform us in advance if the shipment contains unusually long, large or irregularly shaped cargo.

Maximum Weight Per Parcel

Standard parcel limit:

Maximum 20kg per parcel

For shipments exceeding 20kg per piece, please contact us before sending the goods.

Depending on the cargo dimensions and nature of goods, we may recommend splitting the shipment into several cartons or arranging a separate commercial freight solution.

Singapore GST

Singapore currently applies a 9% Goods and Services Tax (GST).

For goods imported into Singapore by air or post, GST import relief may apply where the total CIF value does not exceed SGD400, subject to Singapore Customs regulations.

CIF means:

Cost of Goods + Insurance + Freight

Therefore, the SGD400 threshold does not necessarily refer only to the purchase price of the goods.

Example:

Goods value: SGD380
Freight and insurance: SGD40

Total CIF value:

SGD420

Because the CIF value exceeds SGD400, Singapore import GST may apply.

Where applicable, GST is generally calculated according to Singapore Customs' taxable import value and the prevailing GST rate.

Current Singapore GST rate: 9%

GST, duties, customs charges and other government charges are not included in our freight charges unless specifically stated otherwise.

Low-Value Goods

Goods with a value of SGD400 or below may fall under Singapore's Low-Value Goods rules.

For purchases from overseas sellers registered under Singapore's GST Overseas Vendor Registration system, GST may already have been collected by the seller at the point of purchase.

Customers should retain the purchase invoice and GST payment information where applicable to avoid unnecessary complications during customs clearance.

Customs Declaration

All shipments entering Singapore are subject to Singapore Customs regulations.

Customers must provide accurate information including:

Description of goods

Quantity

Actual commercial value

Purpose of shipment where required

Invoice or purchase receipt where applicable

Receiver's name

Singapore delivery address

Receiver's contact number

Additional supporting documents may be requested depending on the goods.

Declaring an artificially low value is not recommended. Singapore Customs may reassess the shipment value and request supporting documents.

Customs Duty

Most ordinary goods entering Singapore are non-dutiable but may still be subject to GST.

However, certain categories of goods are dutiable or subject to additional regulatory requirements.

Singapore's main categories of dutiable goods include:

Intoxicating liquor

Tobacco products

Motor vehicles

Petroleum products

These goods cannot be treated as ordinary parcels and may require additional customs procedures, duties, licences or permits.

Controlled and Restricted Goods

Some goods may require approval, permits or additional documentation before being imported into Singapore.

Examples may include:

Food products

Supplements

Medicines

Medical devices

Cosmetics

Wireless or telecommunication equipment

Certain electrical products

Batteries

Liquids

Powders

Chemicals

Plant or agricultural products

Animal-related products

Controlled commercial products

Acceptance depends on the exact product specification and applicable Singapore regulations.

Customers should provide the product description, photo, ingredients or technical information before shipping uncertain items.

Battery and Electronic Products

Products containing lithium batteries may require additional checking before acceptance.

Depending on the battery configuration and transportation requirements, documents such as:

MSDS / SDS

UN38.3 Test Report

Battery specifications

may be required.

Loose batteries, power banks and certain high-capacity batteries may be subject to stricter air transport requirements.

Please confirm with us before sending battery-related cargo.

Singapore Remote Area Surcharge

Certain Singapore delivery locations may be classified as remote or special delivery areas by the carrier.

Where applicable:

Remote Area Surcharge: RM15 per parcel

Remote area classifications are determined according to the carrier's delivery network and may change from time to time.

Customers may provide the Singapore postal code before shipping so that we can check the delivery area.

Delivery Address

Please provide a complete Singapore address including:

Receiver name

Company name where applicable

Unit number

Building name

Street address

Singapore postal code

Contact number

Incorrect or incomplete addresses may cause delivery delays or additional charges.

Failed Delivery

If delivery cannot be completed because of:

Incorrect address

Incorrect telephone number

Receiver unavailable

Receiver refuses the parcel

Restricted access

Incomplete delivery information

the shipment may be held, returned or re-delivered depending on the carrier's procedure.

Additional re-delivery or return charges may apply.

Shipment Tracking

Tracking information will be provided after the shipment has been processed and handed over to the delivery network.

Tracking updates may not appear immediately after collection.

International transportation, customs processing and last-mile delivery may appear as separate tracking stages.

Estimated Transit Time

Normal estimated transit time:

1–3 Working Days

The estimated transit time does not constitute a guaranteed delivery commitment.

Delays may occur because of:

Customs inspection

Flight arrangements

Security screening

Incomplete customs documents

Incorrect declaration

Public holidays

Peak shipping periods

Weather conditions

Carrier operational delays

Government inspection

Controlled goods clearance

Loss Compensation

If a shipment is confirmed lost during transportation, compensation is limited to:

Maximum RM300

subject to the applicable shipment terms and claim assessment.

Paid freight charges are not refundable.

Customers shipping high-value goods should consider arranging additional cargo insurance separately.

Proof of value, purchase invoice and supporting documents may be required when submitting a claim.

Damage Risk

International air freight involves multiple handling stages including:

Collection

Warehouse processing

Sorting

Security screening

Air transportation

Customs clearance

Transfer between facilities

Last-mile delivery

Customers are responsible for ensuring that goods are properly packed for international transportation.

Fragile products should use sufficient internal cushioning and protective packaging.

For high-value or fragile cargo, additional protective packing is strongly recommended.
