Have You Heard of “Sensitive Cargo” in International Shipping?
Many people, when they first hear the term “sensitive cargo”, think it means something illegal —
“Will I get in trouble if I ship it?” 😅
Actually, that’s not the case!
Sensitive cargo falls somewhere between “general goods” and “prohibited items.”
It’s not illegal to ship, but it must go through the right channels and be accompanied by the proper documentation.
Here are some examples 👇
⚡ Batteries (power banks, headphones, watches)
→ Require MSDS documentation and UN38.3 test reports.
🍯 Food, health supplements, traditional Chinese medicine
→ May be returned if no quarantine or inspection certificates are provided.
💄 Cosmetics, perfumes, essential oils
→ Classified as liquid or powder items, and must go through special customs procedures.
🔪 Knives or imitation toy guns
→ Considered dangerous goods or prohibited items, and may be seized.
🧲 Magnetic products (phones, speakers, game consoles)
→ Must declare magnetic properties — don’t conceal them.
👕 Branded or imitation goods
→ May involve trademark infringement, so they must go through sensitive cargo channels.
So remember:
✅ Always check with your freight forwarder before shipping.
✅ Don’t risk it by choosing cheap, unlicensed channels.
✅ Work with experienced, certified freight companies — they’ll help you ship legally, safely, and smoothly.
