Real Pinduoduo Return Case: Malaysia to China Refund & Return Shipping Claim

Real Pinduoduo Return Case: Malaysia to China Refund & Return Shipping Claim

Buying from Pinduoduo has become very common in Malaysia.

Like many other customers, I also use Pinduoduo to purchase daily household items.

On 9 March 2026, I purchased 10 boxes of kitchen absorbent and oil-removal paper from Pinduoduo for a total product value of RMB 48.57.

I paid using TNG, and the applicable SST was also charged.

To be fair, free delivery to Malaysia is still one of the main reasons Pinduoduo is attractive to many Malaysian buyers.

The goods were inexpensive, practical and looked like a simple household purchase.

I did not expect this order to turn into a full international return case.

The Shipment Took Almost Two Months to Arrive in Malaysia

The order was placed on 9 March 2026.

Due to a customs inspection during transit, the shipment was delayed for a considerable period.

The parcel was finally received in Malaysia on 6 May 2026.

As a logistics company ourselves, we understand that sea freight can be affected by many factors beyond the control of the shipper or freight forwarder.

Customs inspections, port congestion, vessel schedules, container handling, consolidation arrangements and documentation issues can all affect transit time.

For that reason, when I contacted the seller during the delay, I remained reasonable and only requested updates from time to time.

However, waiting almost two months for a sea freight parcel was still much longer than what we normally experience in our own China-to-Malaysia shipping operations.

At that stage, I was already wondering what had happened during the transportation process.

The Real Problem Started After the Parcel Arrived

When the shipment finally arrived on 6 May 2026, the outer green woven bag was still generally intact.

However, once the package was opened, it became clear that several items inside had been exposed to moisture.

This shipment also contained other products, but those items were not affected and are not relevant to this case.

The most seriously damaged products were the 10 boxes of kitchen absorbent paper.

Approximately 8 out of the 10 boxes were completely wet and no longer suitable for use.

From the condition of the cargo, it appeared possible that another liquid shipment transported in the same consolidation had leaked.

Of course, there was no way for me to confirm exactly which parcel caused the leakage.

However, this is precisely why Newfly places strict packaging requirements on liquid cargo.

A leaking liquid shipment does not only affect the owner of that shipment.

It can also damage nearby cartons, textiles, documents, furniture, electrical products and other cargo inside the same container or consolidation shipment.

For certain liquid products, additional leak-proof protection, reinforced packaging or wooden crating may be required.

This is not simply an additional packaging charge.

It is a cargo risk-control measure designed to protect the interests of all customers sharing the same shipping space.

The Product Value Was Only RMB 48.57, but I Still Decided to Claim

After discovering the damage, I did not immediately dispose of the packaging.

Instead, I began collecting evidence.

This step is extremely important in any cross-border e-commerce damage or return case.

I recorded videos showing the outer packaging, shipping label, tracking number, internal packaging and the condition of the damaged goods.

The shipping label and parcel number were clearly visible in the video.

This is important because photos of damaged goods alone may not be enough to prove that the damage is connected to a specific order.

For international claims, the evidence should ideally show a clear connection between the parcel, the tracking number, the product and the damage.

Real Pinduoduo Return Case:
The Seller Requested a Return and Refund

After I contacted the seller, the seller requested that the goods be returned before a refund could be processed.

From the seller’s point of view, this was understandable.

However, the situation was very different from a normal domestic China return.

The parcel was already in Malaysia.

The product value was only RMB 48.57.

Returning the goods from Malaysia to China required international shipping.

The International Return Shipping Cost Was Almost Ten Times the Product Value

Because we operate Malaysia-to-China shipping services ourselves, I was able to arrange the return shipment directly.

However, based on the actual chargeable weight and volumetric weight, the international return shipping cost came to approximately RMB 454.08.

The product value was RMB 48.57.

The return shipping cost was RMB 454.08.

In other words, the international return shipping cost was more than nine times the value of the goods.

This is exactly where many consumers would normally give up.

Spending more than RMB 400 to return a product worth less than RMB 50 does not appear commercially reasonable.

This is one of the biggest practical problems faced by consumers purchasing low-value products from overseas e-commerce platforms.

The seller may allow the return.

The platform may support the return.

But the international return shipping cost can be so high that the customer no longer wishes to proceed.

Real Pinduoduo Return Case:

I Continued the Claim Through Pinduoduo Customer Service

Instead of giving up immediately, I continued to raise the matter with Pinduoduo customer service.

I explained the full situation and submitted the supporting evidence.

The key points included the low product value, the fact that the goods were already in Malaysia, the seller’s requirement for a physical return, and the fact that the international return shipping cost was far higher than the product value.

I also explained that the return could be arranged through a proper international logistics service with formal shipping documentation and a trackable waybill.

After reviewing the case, the platform agreed to subsidise the international return shipping cost.

This meant that the RMB 454.08 return freight did not ultimately have to be borne by me.

However, this point must be understood correctly.

This was the outcome of my actual case.

It does not mean that every Pinduoduo return from Malaysia will automatically qualify for international return freight reimbursement.

Approval will depend on the specific order, the reason for return, supporting evidence, responsibility assessment and the platform’s applicable after-sales policy at that time.

Still, this case proves one important point.

For genuine cross-border return disputes, international shipping costs can sometimes be claimed if the case is properly documented and approved by the platform.

The Goods Were Returned from Malaysia to China on 18 May 2026

After the platform approved the return arrangement, the goods were prepared for shipment back to China.

The return shipment departed from Malaysia on 18 May 2026.

A trackable international shipping service was used.

This is important.

For an international return, it is not enough simply to say that the goods have been sent.

You should ideally be able to prove when the shipment was dispatched, what the tracking number was, when the goods reached China and when the seller received them.

These records are particularly useful if the platform requests additional evidence during the refund process.

Real Pinduoduo Return Case

The Seller Received the Returned Goods on 22 May 2026

The seller in China received the returned goods on 22 May 2026.

After receipt was confirmed, the refund process continued.

The final result was successful.

The product value of RMB 48.57 was refunded.

The related SST was also handled according to the platform’s refund process.

The international return shipping cost of RMB 454.08 was successfully subsidised.

This completed the entire return and refund process.

Why This Case Is Worth Sharing

Many people understand how to request a refund from Pinduoduo.

Far fewer people understand what to do when the goods are already in Malaysia and the seller asks for the products to be physically returned to China.

At that stage, the problem is no longer simply whether the seller accepts the return.

The real questions become much more practical.

You need to confirm whether the cargo can legally and operationally be shipped back to China.

You need to confirm whether the Chinese consignee information is complete.

You need to check whether the cargo contains batteries, liquids, powder, chemicals, magnetic items or other controlled products.

You also need to know the actual weight, volumetric weight, destination address and whether the platform requires a quotation, receipt, transport document or trackable waybill.

These are the details that determine whether an international return can actually be completed.

Malaysia to China Pinduoduo Return Shipping

Newfly provides international shipping services from Malaysia to China for eligible return shipments.

If you need to return goods purchased from Pinduoduo, Taobao, 1688, Alibaba or another Chinese seller, you may first send us the cargo details for checking.

We will review the shipment requirements before arranging transportation.

We Can Provide a Formal Shipping Quotation

In some return cases, the platform may ask the buyer to provide an estimated international return shipping cost before approving the claim.

Newfly can prepare a formal shipping quotation based on the actual cargo details.

Normally, we will require the product photo, packed dimensions, actual weight, product description, Chinese return address and information on whether the item contains batteries, liquids, powder or other special contents.

Malaysia Pickup Service Is Available

For customers who are unable to deliver the parcel to us personally, pickup can be arranged in selected areas.

Pickup is a chargeable service.

The pickup fee will depend on the collection location, number of parcels, dimensions and total weight.

Newfly is based in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, which provides convenient access to many locations in the Klang Valley.

Do Not Ship the Return Before the Platform Confirms the Requirements

This is one of the most important lessons from this case.

If the seller tells you to return the goods, do not immediately arrange international shipping.

First confirm exactly what the platform requires.

This is especially important if you intend to claim the international return shipping cost.

Before shipping, you should confirm whether the return has been officially approved, who is responsible for the international shipping cost, whether the platform requires a quotation before shipment, what type of shipping receipt or invoice is acceptable, whether online tracking is required and what happens if the seller refuses to accept the parcel.

If you arrange the international shipment before these points are confirmed, you may later discover that the freight cost does not meet the platform’s reimbursement requirements.

At that stage, the shipping cost may become your own responsibility.

What If the Chinese Seller Cannot Provide Identification Details?

This is another issue many customers only discover after they start arranging the return.

Certain China-bound shipping or customs clearance channels may require the consignee to provide identification or real-name information.

However, when purchasing through Pinduoduo or another e-commerce platform, the buyer may only have the seller’s business or delivery details and may not have access to the seller’s personal identification information.

For this reason, the Chinese consignee information should be checked before the goods are shipped.

Requirements can vary depending on the cargo type, customs clearance method and delivery channel.

The safest approach is to provide the complete return address to the logistics provider for verification before dispatch.

Which Products Must Be Checked Before Returning to China?

Ordinary clothing, shoes and general household items are usually more straightforward.

However, products containing batteries, liquids, powders, creams, food, cosmetics, medicines, supplements, chemicals, flammable materials, branded goods, high-value items or specialised machinery should always be checked before shipment.

A seller agreeing to accept a return does not automatically mean that the goods are suitable for international transportation.

That is a completely separate issue.

Case Summary

Order date: 9 March 2026.

Product value: RMB 48.57.

Quantity: 10 boxes.

Parcel received in Malaysia: 6 May 2026.

Approximately 8 boxes were severely affected by moisture.

The return was approved after communication with the seller and Pinduoduo customer service.

International return shipping cost: RMB 454.08.

Shipment returned from Malaysia to China: 18 May 2026.

Seller received the returned goods: 22 May 2026.

Product refund successfully completed.

Related SST handled according to the platform refund process.

International return shipping cost of RMB 454.08 successfully subsidised.

The biggest lesson from this case is simple.

For low-value goods, international return shipping may appear commercially unreasonable.

However, when the damage is genuine, the evidence is complete and the platform has an appropriate claims process, it can still be worth pursuing the case properly.
